Essential Functions
Operate Heavy Machinery: Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and loaders. Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by grading and leveling earth, moving materials, and digging trenches. Maintenance and Inspection: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team. Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe work environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Collaborate with Team: Work closely with construction crews, supervisors, and other operators to coordinate tasks and achieve project objectives. Read and Interpret Plans: Understand and follow project plans, blueprints, and specifications to accurately complete tasks. Material Handling: Load, unload, and move materials as required for various construction activities. Troubleshooting: Identify and address minor issues with equipment and work with the maintenance team for major repairs. Knowledge
Experience: Proven experience operating heavy machinery in construction or related fields. Skills: Proficient in operating and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment. Strong understanding of safety procedures and construction practices. Communication: Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members and supervisors. Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to address equipment issues and operational challenges. Qualifications
Experience with specialized equipment (e.g., bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and loaders). Knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance related to construction operations within MODOT and ARDOT. Must successfully complete MoDOT Flagger Training Course and OSHA 10 Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently. Ability to bend, sit, stoop, and stand for long periods of time in the outdoor weather. Ability to be exposed to concrete dust, curing compounds, and form oil daily. Ability to work in field environments with exposure to dust, inclement weather conditions, extreme heat, cold, noise, vibrations and a variety of petroleum products. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain. Ability to climb stairs and ladders. Ability to work comfortably and safely at heights on all types of structures. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
