Clinic Scheduler
Performs duties and tasks related to clinic scheduling. Operates communication systems, such as telephone and switchboard. Answers incoming calls, greets callers, provides information, transfers calls, and/or takes messages as necessary. Performs clerical duties as needed. Duties include answering telephones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, compiling medical charts, filing, and office machine operation. Communication with patients regarding dates of procedures, dates of appointments and instructions for scheduled procedures. What you will do: Answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages. Listen to customer requests, referring to alphabetical or geographical directories to answer questions and provide telephone information. Operate paging systems or other systems of bells or buzzers to notify recipients of incoming calls. Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information. Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities. Process and prepare documents. Perform clerical duties such as typing, proofreading, and sorting mail. Compute, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports. Perform clerical duties such as typing, proofreading, and sorting mail. Open, sort, and route incoming mail, answer correspondence, and prepare outgoing mail. Deliver messages and run errands. Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers. Schedule appointments internally and externally, Schedule procedures and appointments associated with those procedures. Work with insurance companies or other departments to obtain prior authorization. Provide instructions and education material regarding appointments and procedures. Qualifications: H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required Medical terminology Preferred Experience working with computers Preferred Previous experience answering multiple line phone system Preferred Previous health care experience Preferred Typing skills Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems. Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
