The Data Engineer defines, develops, tests, analyzes, and maintains data and data applications. This includes being involved in understanding the business impact of the data and software and creating solutions to realize that impact by researching, designing, documenting, and modifying data specifications throughout the development life cycle. The Data Engineer works as part of a team on a moderately complex product, project or domain comprised of data. *This role will be Hybrid (2-days a week in office) if you are located within 50 miles of our Corporate Offices in either Mendota Heights, MN or Loveland, CO .

Collaborate with team members and stakeholders in the conceptualization and development of database and/or application functionality.

Assist in the research, definition, development, and documentation of deliverables, and specifications in collaboration with team members.

Monitor, investigate and implement improvements to database design and performance.

Integrate efficiency and performance during all development activity.

Test new and existing applications for the purposes of correcting errors and general debugging.

Participate in defining application and database development plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.

Deploy database changes through environments to production upon completion of development, testing, and documentation.

Conduct code reviews based on team’s defined best practices.

Provide data and software support for bugs, issues, and escalated incident tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues.

Partner with others in resolving problems with software products or company data systems.

Recommend new technologies, approaches, and best practices.

Additional Functions In addition to the essential functions listed above, the incumbent may perform the following additional functions. Participate in regulatory and compliance activities.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience

3+ years of data, data application or data science experience required with prior experience within various platforms and languages

Knowledge of all aspects of data development and product life cycles

Excellent understanding of data engineering and industry best practices

Ability to conduct research into data and database-related issues and products

Ability to conduct research into data-related issues for software products and systems

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of programming for different delivery approaches such as on-premises, web, cloud, and mobile

Postgres (v12 or later) - 1 year

Familiarity with SAP SQL Anywhere - nice to have

Microsoft SQL Server

Windows desktop/server o/s - 1 year

(because many PG people will be *nix types

)

Azure DevOps (including Git)

Powershell or Batch Files

C#

Visual Studio/VS Code

Working Environment Office environment – either in Patterson facility or at home/remote location

Travel to corporate sites is periodically required (Quarterly or so)

Periodic on call rotations and available outside of normal business hours on evenings and weekends during critical production release or issue escalation periods

This role is eligible for hire in any of the following States: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, HI, ID, IL, KS, KY, ME, MA, MI, MN, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NY, OR, RI, SD, TX, UT, VT, WA, WV, WI The compensation range for this role is below. $90,000 - $100,000 The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $76,700.00 - $95,900.00
