ICS/EMCS/HVAC Controls Lead
Tessera is seeking a highly skilled and experienced ICS/EMCS/HVAC Controls Lead to oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of integrated control systems (ICS), energy management control systems (EMCS), and HVAC automation across USAFA facilities. This role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of mission-critical building systems through expert-level technical oversight, coordination, and mentorship. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Lead installation, programming, and commissioning of HVAC control systems, including ICS and EMCS platforms Diagnose and resolve complex control system issues, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency Monitor and fine-tune system operations to support sustainability and mission readiness Coordinate with engineers and technicians on upgrades, retrofits, and compliance with military standards Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, service activities, and performance metrics Provide technical leadership, training, and oversight to junior staff and support emergency system continuity Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC controls, EMCS, or building automation systems Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, building automation, or a related field preferred Technical certifications in HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), or EMCS highly desirable Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls Experience with direct digital controls (DDC), PLC programming, SCADA systems, and automation protocols such as BACnet and Modbus Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical circuits, and low-voltage electronics Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Physical Requirements: May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties. Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required. Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time. Requirements: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance for this position. A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance. Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act. Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
