Quality Assurance Supervisor
to join a leading company in the Huntington Beach, CA surrounding area. The
Quality Assurance Supervisor
ensures that all products meet required quality standards through rigorous quality control, laboratory testing, and regulatory compliance. With a strong chemistry and materials science background, this role also contributes to experimental research, new product development, and process improvement. The Supervisor leads QA and lab teams, ensures conformance to standards such as AS9100/ISO9001, and supports R&D activities including conducting experiments and testing prototype materials.
Base pay range $62,400.00/yr - $83,200.00/yr
Responsibilities
Supervise QA technicians and laboratory staff, providing training, direction, and technical support.
Oversee daily laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods using chemical and physical test methods.
Manage and maintain the calibration system for lab and production testing equipment.
Ensure all quality systems comply with internal standards, ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.
Assist in investigating customer complaints and quality issues; lead root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Maintain accurate QA records, test data, inspection results, and documentation for audits and traceability.
Support production by reviewing machine setups and verifying process parameters align with product specifications.
Promote and enforce safety policies; maintain a clean and hazard-free lab environment.
Collaborate with R&D team on new product development and process optimization.
Set up and operate experimental equipment, prepare samples, and analyze test data for accuracy and consistency.
Maintain detailed experiment records and report significant results to R&D or project leaders.
Interface with production teams on technical evaluations, pilot runs, and experimental trials.
Assist with the development of technical reports, presentations, and performance data for internal and customer use.
Maintain R&D lab equipment in proper working condition and assist in equipment repairs and modifications.
Contribute to cross-functional problem-solving initiatives and technical reviews.
Basic Hiring Criteria
An Associate's degree or a Bachelor's in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or related applied science field.
Associate degree accepted with extensive QA and lab experience.
3-5+ years in quality assurance or R&D in a manufacturing or chemical environment (plastic film or composites preferred).
Strong laboratory skills, including familiarity with chemical testing, material evaluation, and experimental design.
Experience with quality systems such as ISO and AS9100.
Working knowledge of standard lab equipment and instruments.
Skilled in Microsoft Office; ERP experience preferred (Microsoft Dynamics/Navision).
Proven ability to lead teams, resolve quality issues, and communicate effectively across departments.
Strong problem-solving, documentation, and presentation skills.
Desired Qualifications
Background in polymer science, composites, or aerospace manufacturing.
Experience interfacing with customers for technical evaluations or complaint resolution.
Familiarity with experimental design, data analysis, and prototype testing.
Additional Information This position is on-site M-F with some flexibility; typical shifts are 7:00 am–3:30 pm; no overtime.
