SPAN

Solutions Engineer
role at
Span .
Want to apply Read all the information about this position below, then hit the apply button. Overview We started Span to address a pattern we'd all lived: as teams expand, context is buried under layers of meetings, tools, people and process. Things begin to stall in the "outer loops" like prioritization, allocation, collaboration, and management—areas where mistakes and inefficiencies are arguably more costly. We are creating a new type of tool that delivers coherent and useful software engineering context for humans and agents alike, a tool that we believe will enable ownership, autonomy, and superhuman impact inside of an engineering organization.
We’re building a future where:
Engineering leaders can understand their most precious resource - team time - so that they’re able to invest intentionally, root out hidden costs of toil, and unlock the true potential of their team.
Everyone inside the organization can have an intuitive grasp of what’s happening so they’re empowered to make better decisions, operate confidently and deliver predictably.
The hours tied up in tagging, status reporting and coordination meetings are automated away so that people spend less time on busywork and more time on the real work.
Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $300,000.00/yr
What You’ll Be Up To
Confidently demo the product from high-level workflows to the nooks and crannies (like setting up custom roles & permissions).
Explain how our platform collects and syncs data from different sources of truth, and help customers think through constraints in their systems.
Answer questions about how metrics are calculated, including edge cases where customers want to nerd-snipe about accuracy.
Translate customer needs into practical ways to use our product e.g., mapping initiative lists into workstreams, or configuring imports from HR/tech stack CSVs.
Support setup of connectors and APIs (like the DORA API), validate data accuracy (such as test coverage % via .gitignore files), and ensure smooth onboarding.
Partner with customers to identify creative, pragmatic ways to answer their questions using Span—without needing heavy engineering involvement.
Help customers get the most out of our platform by listening deeply, proposing tailored solutions, and bringing back insights to our Product team.
What We're Looking For
5+ years in a Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Technical Consulting role at a SaaS company.
Strong product intuition and the ability to demo software with clarity and enthusiasm.
Technical fluency and comfortable explaining APIs, data integrations, and configuration steps.
Analytical mindset with the ability to explain how metrics are calculated and troubleshoot discrepancies.
Creative problem solver who enjoys mapping messy real-world systems into product workflows.
Excellent communication skills: equally confident with technical teams and executive stakeholders.
Bonus: experience with engineering metrics (e.g., DORA, test coverage, productivity analytics).
Compensation Base pay range: $100,000.00/yr - $300,000.00/yr
