Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Controls Engineer V to serve as a technical leader in implementing and integrating advanced PLC-based automation systems across Client manufacturing operations. This role will focus on supporting capital expansion projects, enhancing process reliability, and ensuring seamless integration of robotics, vision systems, and controls. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, hands-on controls experience, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while driving project success from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities L ead electrical and controls scope for medium to large-scale manufacturing projects. Design, develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems, HMI, and network configurations. Manage the integration of robotic systems, machine vision, and process control technologies. Support all project phases: Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Plant Acceptance. Develop and maintain project documentation including schematics, specifications, and functional design documents. Provide hands-on technical support for automation systems in manufacturing environments. Mentor engineers and technicians, provide training for plant personnel during handover phases. Ensure all control system designs comply with industry safety standards and corporate engineering practices. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams. Apply structured software development practices for all controls-related projects. Provide occasional off-hours support during critical project implementation or troubleshooting phases. Occasionally act in a hands-on controls technician capacity for project-specific needs. Lead or participate in projects focused on cutting-edge automation and controls for new equipment integration.

Required Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field. 7+ years of experience in controls engineering, with a strong track record of successful PLC system integration in manufacturing. Proficient in PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial network configuration (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Omron).

Strong knowledge of: Control theory and PID loop tuning Electrical and automation safety standards Industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet) Hands-on experience with hardware platforms, ladder logic, and system-level troubleshooting. Experience with controls support in live production environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Systems thinking approach to managing complex automation and control systems.

Preferred Qualifications Masters Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Experience with high-level programming languages (C#, Java, VB, C++). Familiarity with relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL). Exposure to machine vision systems (image acquisition and analysis). Project management experience, including scoping, budgeting, and timeline tracking.
