Position Summary The Director of Commercial Concrete is responsible for the estimating and pre-construction department by managing bid documentation, tracking deadlines, facilitating subcontractor outreach, and ensuring organized delivery of high-quality proposals. This role is central to helping the team stay efficient, coordinated, and well-prepared in a fast-paced bidding environment.
Key Responsibilities
Track incoming invitations to bid and maintain the bid calendar across all active opportunities
Organize project files, plans, specs, and addenda; distribute bid packages to team members
Prepare bid folders/checklists and assist in compiling scopes of work and deliverables
Distribute bid invitations and follow up with subcontractors/suppliers for quotes
Maintain current subcontractor database and prequalification records
Assist in tracking quote coverage for all relevant concrete scopes (pumping, rebar, materials, etc.)
Support development of bid proposals, scope letters, and bid forms
Assist with document formatting, proofreading, and final submission packaging
Prepare supporting documentation, such as org charts, resumes, safety records, and past project sheets as required by GC RFPs
Schedule and coordinate internal bid reviews and team huddles
Ensure updated pricing templates, forms, and process checklists are available for use
Help organize project handoff materials for successful transitions to operations
Log and archive bid results, feedback, and award status
Assist with maintaining estimating performance metrics (win/loss rate, volume, backlog)
Coordinate with other departments (accounting, marketing, field) for needed information
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in construction administration or preconstruction support (concrete or structural trade preferred)
Familiarity with Bluebeam, Bid Board software, or similar platforms
Strong skills in MS Office (especially Excel, Word, Outlook)
Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Clear written and verbal communication
Ability to manage competing priorities under deadline
High attention to detail and team-first attitude
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
