Role Technical Writer
Responsibilities
Draft and edit technical narratives, briefing materials, resumes, project descriptions, and supporting documents.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to translate technical input into client-ready content.
Format documents in compliance with brand standards and RFP requirements.
Maintain and update content libraries, including past performance data and staff bios.
Support QA/QC reviews to ensure clarity and consistency in written materials.
Prepare proposal narratives, complete proposal forms, and tailor content to reflect client goals and the firm’s differentiators.
Take initiative in identifying and addressing gaps in proposal content, including missing staff bios, outdated project data, or inconsistent messaging.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in professional writing within the AEC industry or a technical environment.
Minimum 3 years of experience coordinating proposals in the AEC industry or a similar professional services environment.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
Required Skills
Basic understanding of proposal lifecycle, document management systems, and version control practices.
Advanced expertise in Adobe InDesign with a strong command of layout design, template creation, and complex document formatting for high-quality, professional deliverables.
Strong grammar, writing, and editing skills.
Attention to detail and consistency in formatting, style, and tone.
Ability to comprehend and convey technical information accurately.
Comfort working with industry-specific language, technical data, and structured content formats.
Demonstrated storytelling ability to craft compelling, client-focused content.
Eager to engage with internal teams and learn about staff expertise and project history to inform tailored proposal content.
Willingness to learn internal positioning, services, and portfolio across markets.
Awareness of industry competitors and differentiators.
Time management and multitasking in deadline-driven environments.
Familiarity with file naming conventions, submission logistics, and government forms (e.g., SF330).
Awareness of internal staff experience, firm services, key projects, and competitive positioning.
Strong experience with CRM platforms, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), market research tools, visual layout software, and proposal management systems.
Strong written communication and storytelling skills.
Strong organizational skills with attention to deadlines, formatting consistency, and version control.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with diverse teams under pressure.
