Engineering Consultant- Mission Critical Engineering & Design
A Top 10 ENR listed AEC design firm, who annually turn over $500+ Million in revenue is looking for Senior Structural Design Engineers to join their expanding Data Center team on a full time Hybrid basis. Data Center design experience is preferred. They have won multiple "Best Design" and "Best Place to Work" awards across their several locations. They have recently undergone strategic acquisitions and mergers, expanding their Mission Critical Department's across all locations. Lead the structural design and delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center projects, ensuring performance, resilience, and code compliance. Collaborate directly with architects, MEP, and civil teams to integrate structural solutions seamlessly into the overall design vision. Conduct and validate advanced structural analysis for complex steel and concrete systems, accounting for seismic, wind, and vibration impacts. Engage with clients, consultants, and contractors throughout design and construction phases, serving as a trusted technical advisor. Lead coordination efforts with geotechnical engineers, envelope consultants, and site teams to mitigate risk and ensure constructability. Provide strategic input on project scheduling, budgeting, and risk management from a structural perspective. Oversee construction administration tasks including RFIs, submittals, and site visits, ensuring design intent is maintained through project closeout. Drive innovation by incorporating best practices in structural design for energy efficiency, sustainability, and long-term operational reliability.
TYPICAL DUTIES: NON-PROJECT RELATED: Lead structural engineering efforts across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring consistent application. Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth, team collaboration, and knowledge sharing Develop and refine internal tools, templates, and workflows to improve efficiency and design consistency across structural teams. Stay informed on industry trends, materials innovations, and evolving codes/standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE) and implement best practices firmwide.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree or sufficient experience in lieu thereof. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required; SE license preferred. 3+ years of experience in structural design, with a strong portfolio of mission-critical projects Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, SAFE, RISA, STAAD) Expertise in building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, applicable local codes) Strong command of Revit Structure and BIM workflows Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams across all phases of design Proven experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities in high-pressure and deadline-driven environments Mission Critical/Data Center experience.
