Overview

We are seeking a Director to join our Corporate Development group which is responsible for transaction management activities within our investment firm. You will be responsible for leading all activities related to acquiring potential portfolio companies which includes managing the relationship with potential sellers, negotiating the transaction, and closing the acquisition. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of executing deals in manufacturing or industrial sectors. This role is critical to our mission of identifying, acquiring, and growing high-potential businesses in line with our investment profile. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team. Your ability to lead deal flow and shepherd relationships through successful acquisition will be instrumental in driving Tide Rock’s success.

This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Solana Beach, CA

Responsibilities

  • Drive deals from information gathering through investment committee, LOIs, due diligence, and acquisition.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of acquisition targets through proprietary efforts including direct outreach (phone & digital), networking, and partnerships with investment bankers, brokers, and industry contacts.
  • Screen and evaluate potential transactions, including financial performance, market position, and strategic fit.
  • Create financial models and valuation analyses to assess deal feasibility and potential returns.
  • Prepare and present investment committee materials, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic and financial objectives.
  • Negotiate terms and structure transactions, including financing and purchase agreements.
  • Manage closing processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Coordination with internal teams in diligence, finance, legal, and external advisors to shepherd potential transactions through acquisition.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential investment opportunities.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, or private equity with a focus on manufacturing or industrials.
  • MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and M&A processes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with portfolio company executives and potential buyers.
  • Excellent negotiating transactions.
