We are scaling rapidly and are looking for a Solutions Engineer to partner with prospective customers during pre-sales engagements, ensuring they understand Marqo’s value, architecture, and how to successfully integrate and optimize with our platform.
The Role
As a Solutions Engineer at Marqo, you will be the technical advisor and trusted partner to prospective customers throughout the sales cycle. You’ll work closely with Account Executives to understand customer needs, design solutions, demonstrate Marqo’s capabilities, and lead technical discussions with engineering and product teams.
You will bridge the gap between business outcomes and technical implementation, influencing product adoption and accelerating sales through your consultative expertise. This is a customer-facing role with a strong focus on technical pre-sales, solution design, and hands-on proof of concept (POC) support.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Solution Design & Technical Leadership
- Partner with Sales to deeply understand customer requirements, technical constraints, and business goals.
- Design tailored Marqo solutions and architectures that align with customer needs.
- Conduct technical discovery calls, solution workshops, and POC engagements.
- Present Marqo’s platform to technical and business audiences (CTOs, engineers, product managers).
- Lead hands-on POCs and pilot integrations, ensuring technical success criteria are met.
- Build and deliver compelling product demos using customer datasets (text, images, events).
- Translate Marqo’s AI-powered relevance (vector search, visual search, personalization) into tangible business value.
Customer Success Enablement
- Provide best practice guidance on search optimization, integration strategies, and relevance tuning.
- Act as the voice of the customer to Product & Engineering teams for feature requests and feedback.
- Help transition accounts to Customer Success & Support post-sales.
Collaboration & Thought Leadership
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to refine messaging and solution positioning.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Technical Consulting, Solutions Architecture, or Technical Pre-Sales experience
- Experience working with RESTful APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and common data formats (JSON, CSV, images).
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-autonomy startup environment.
- Proficiency in Python or scripting languages for demos and prototypes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Success in pre-sales customer engagements, driving technical conversations and solution designs.
- Strong understanding of search technologies (Elasticsearch, Algolia, Solr, etc.) or vector similarity search concepts.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts (embeddings, multimodal models, relevance tuning) is a strong plus.
- Prior experience at a high-growth startup or product-led company.
