Role description
Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Energy Transition team to support and grow our expanding business in the Western U.S. across a range of sectors, including linear utilities, oil and gas, rail and transit, mining and renewable energies. The successful candidate will be engaged in client development and in project delivery, working collaboratively with a diverse team and balancing varying priorities. The role offers a hybrid working environment with remote and office work as needed, and periodic travel (10–15%).
Role accountabilities
As a Principal Environmental Project Manager, you will lead diverse teams of biologists, cultural resource specialists, planners, engineers, and other technical specialists to execute environmental permitting projects for oil and gas, linear utilities, mining, renewable energy, and rail clients. You will lead project teams in developing permitting strategies and coordinate with clients to ensure successful outcomes. It is expected that you have demonstrated experience with state and federal laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act; and experience working with the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service. You will provide senior-level QA/QC for client deliverables, including agency consultations and permit applications.
You will also be involved in supporting and/or managing the growth of new and existing client relationships in conjunction with business development leaders and account leaders. This will include pursuing opportunities, scope and cost development.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or similar environmental discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience managing environmental permitting projects in the western United States in the environmental consulting industry.
- Experience leading teams and collaborating with biologists, cultural resource specialists, planners, and other specialists in developing high-quality documents for environmental projects.
- Proven project manager who is schedule-driven, with experience estimating and managing costs and delivery of environmental planning projects.
- Experience working with the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and western state agencies in the preparation of environmental documents and reports. Regional experience in Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada is preferred.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Management, Natural Sciences or related field
- Experience supporting and/or managing client development including identifying opportunities, developing and maintaining client relationships, and leading proposal development including the preparation of scope of work and project budgets.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $116,000 – $200,100. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, wellbeing benefits, tuition reimbursement, and more. Nine paid holidays and 20 days of PTO accrue per year. Actual salary will vary based on experience, education, budget, and location.
