Our client, a global consulting firm delivering AI-native solutions, is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead and scale its U.S. engineering capability. This is a high-impact role for a technically adept, client-facing leader who brings both strategic vision and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate will be comfortable guiding complex solution architecture, engaging with enterprise clients, and growing a consulting-oriented engineering team in a fast-paced, delivery-driven environment.

As Head of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for setting technical direction, leading the U.S. engineering team, contributing to pre-sales and client engagements, and overseeing the successful delivery of complex AI-powered software solutions. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and clients to understand business goals and translate them into scalable, secure, cloud-native systems that incorporate GenAI and modern data architectures.

The role is approximately 50% hands-on and requires strong proficiency in architecture, prototyping, and development. You’ll lead the design and build of solutions using technologies like .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core), Python, and Azure , and will ensure GenAI is thoughtfully integrated across the stack. You will also own technical standards, development practices, and code quality while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive engineering strategy, architecture standards, and delivery practices
• Build and lead the U.S. engineering team, mentoring and developing talent
• Serve as a hands-on technical lead for client engagements and internal initiatives
• Design scalable, GenAI-enabled cloud applications with an emphasis on performance, security, and maintainability
• Collaborate closely with client stakeholders, product managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure solution alignment and delivery success
• Support pre-sales efforts by leading technical discovery, estimating work, and shaping team structures
• Balance technical excellence with delivery timelines and commercial realities, especially across T&M and fixed-price models
• Lead internal R&D efforts and help shape AI offerings in collaboration with the broader technical leadership team

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including time in leadership/management roles.
• A strong, recent consulting background is required.
• Must have worked for one of the Top Consultant Firms, including Deloitte, PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers), EY (Ernst & Young), KPMG, Accenture, McKinsey, BCG, or Bain to be considered for this position.
• Proven success building and scaling high-performing technical teams.
• Must have strong, recent, hands-on coding experience.
• Deep experience with C#.NET, ASP.NET Core, Python, and Azure.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, CI/CD, DevOps, and security best practices.
• Must have strong Pre-Sales experience, People Management experience, and hands-on Coding experience in most recent roles.
• Must have strong experience delivering GenAI applications at scale, including hands-on experience with tools like OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, and LangChain.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage clients, lead teams, and operate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must have experience or strong familiarity with Microsoft ecosystem tools, including Power Platform, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Azure Fabric.
• Along with working for a Big 4 Consultancy, must also have experience with startups and high-growth environments.
• Previous involvement in shaping internal engineering processes and standards.
