Investment Analyst role at MassMutual
The Opportunity
As an Investment Analyst, the ideal candidate will draw on their knowledge of financial models and investment instruments to develop solutions for a fast-paced market-driven environment. A background in fixed income and derivatives will help you in working closely with portfolio managers, quantitative strategists and subject matter experts to produce, improve and develop reporting and analytic capabilities in Investment Management. This role requires Python, SQL and VBA programming ability. You will work in a fast-paced, innovative and collaborative environment to support MassMutual’s annuity hedging (VA, FIA and Ascend) and asset-liability management (ALM) teams.
The Team
This position will be part of the Quantitative Research and Development (R&D) team within Investment Management. The team has a primary focus and responsibility for researching new ideas and strategies and for developing underlying technologies and analytics across MassMutual’s hedging programs. As part of R&D, you will have numerous opportunities to learn, develop, and apply new skills using the latest technologies within a continuously evolving business and market landscape. Impact
- Support of the current VA Hedging program
- Develop new functionalities for the VA Hedging and ALM process
- Manage daily ALM production for MassMutual’s General Investment Account and VA
- Undertake broader special research and development projects as needed
- Collaborate with colleagues in other areas of MassMutual for modeling and analytics
- Providing technical expertise in the development and implementation of sophisticated asset models
- Deliver regular reports to the Portfolio Managers and other stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math or related degree
- 1+ years of experience with fixed income and derivatives models
- 1+ years of experience in financial instruments
- 1+ years of SQL and VBA coding experience
Ideal Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, math or related degree
- Python coding background
- Proclivity for continuous improvement
- Strong quantitative expertise: statistics, mathematics, and computer systems
- Strong understanding of asset-liability management in a life insurance company
