Pay Information $2,650 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 (7 PM - 7 AM) Experience: Minimum of 1 year in the related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in the state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS, ACLS, C-EFM or AWHONN courses, STABLE, NRP Must-Have: Candidates must have experience and be comfortable with caring for newborns. Weekends: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. On Call Requirement: Participation is voluntary. Description: The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. The nurse provides routine and complex care while being able to plan for long-range goals. Continues to develop the ability to manage contingencies in clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of relevant competencies. Consistent with nursing scope and standards of practice, provides care utilizing the nursing process. Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers. Standard I: Utilizes the Nursing Process Uses critical thinking skills to assess physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs. Communicates findings to appropriate healthcare team members. Develops and modifies a plan of care to meet individual patient needs using evidence-based practice. Implements and evaluates care, monitoring and documenting progression of treatment goals. Performs timely reassessment and documentation. Standard II: Patient Throughput & Patient Flow Process Anticipates and plans for admission, discharge, and transfer needs. Utilizes systems of communication and tools to facilitate the discharge process. Coaches on tools and techniques for checking and validating orders. Standard III: Unit Operations Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care and functions during a shift. Demonstrates stewardship in the proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Assesses staffing needs and participates in resourcing efforts. Educates and trains others on operations and regulations within the nursing field. Standard IV: Safe Practice/Quality Care/Regulations Incorporates safety practices to promote a safe environment for positive patient outcomes. Demonstrates accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities. Communicates patient information effectively across care settings. Educates and trains others on industry regulations. Knowledgeable of healthcare-related laws and regulations. Technical Competencies: Follows clinical policies and standards, ensuring compliance. Provides feedback for improvement of procedures. Shares experiences with maintaining patient documentation. Discusses the flow of information between various units. Transcribes verbal orders and ensures their accuracy. Explains health information documentation best practices. Patient Safety Shares experiences ensuring safety for patient groups. Explains safety guidelines and procedures. Recognizes and addresses physiological and psychological signs of problems. Utilizes systems to document incidents and participate in investigations. Position Requirements: All newly hired RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by trained staff members. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is expected. Preferred experience includes Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a Perinatal Setting. Current certifications in required courses are mandatory.
