Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 9 weeks Shift: 12H Evening, Night Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC Must-Have: - 2 years experience in Emergency Department - Familiarity with trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac cases Description: Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility within the past year. The unit has 243 bays for patient care. There is a Fast Track area available. A separate Triage area exists, and travelers may occasionally be required to perform Triage. There is no separate holding area in the Emergency Room; holds are intermixed within the ER. ER RNs manage their own ER holds. There are no separate Psych/seclusion rooms. In-house security is available. The unit sees approximately 80-90 patients per day. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and PALS or ENPC. Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac conditions. The unit operates with both charge nurses and house supervisors. Nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters are present on the unit. The EMR system used is Allscripts - Paragon. Respiratory therapy is responsible for completing ABGs and breathing treatments. There is no telemetry on the unit; RNs must know ECG rhythms. X-ray or CT services are available next to the Emergency Department. Phlebotomy is performed by a technician or a registered nurse. Shifts and scheduling are self-scheduled. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements are also every other. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating is required to units the nurse is qualified for. The dress code is navy scrubs. Unit-specific orientation will be provided.
