Position Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial, accounting, IT, and risk management functions of the organization. This role ensures financial integrity, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the YMCAs business units and subsidiaries. The CFO partners closely with the President & CEO, senior leadership, Board committees, and external stakeholders to support the mission and long-term sustainability of the Y.

  1. Masters Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or related field. Or bachelor's degree and 10 years related experience. CPA certification strongly preferred.
  2. Minimum 710 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.

    Knowledge and understanding of general business matters including budget development, cash management and investments, GAAP, non-profit compliance, and business taxes.
  3. Strong knowledge of computer technology including computerized accounting systems; expert skills in QuickBooks and Excel required.
  4. Ability to review and negotiate contracts including but not limited to insurance (Property, Liability, Workers Compensation, Health, Dental), equipment leases, rental agreements, and vendor contracts.
  5. Understanding of bond financing, and debt covenant compliance.
  6. Experience overseeing IT systems and leading cross-functional teams.
  7. Experience in effectively managing a staff team.
  8. Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Familiarity with grant reporting and donor fund tracking.
  10. Knowledge of risk management, insurance and human resources policies.
