About the Role
The Material Handler is responsible for shipping finished goods and maintaining materials that support our customers and production lines. Duties involve stocking, cutting, shipping and/or moving finish goods and materials/supplies. Operates material handling and warehouse equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Assist with unloading and loading incoming and outgoing freight
- Obtains and moves finished goods and materials with the use of a RF scanner
- Identify and packages finished goods in the appropriate manner
- Use warehouse packaging equipment as needed
- Performs cycle counts of warehoused inventory
- Ability to utilize cutting lines
- Maintain 5S standards
Qualifications
- Understanding of basic math skills adding, subtracting and measuring
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to use judgement related to identifying potential safety hazards
Education & Experience
High School education or GED preferred. Minimum three (3) months material handling experience. Proficient in 1 warehouse function (cutting, shipping, material handling, shipping clerk).
Work Environment/Physical Demands
This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, production assembly machine operations, and/or walking and assisting production employees. Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn. Eye and foot protection may have to be worn. There is potential for lifting weights up to 30 pounds may occur regularly, with a potential for lifting weights of up to 45 pounds on an occasional basis. There is potential exposure to extreme temperatures. The occasional physical demands of the position include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination. May stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
