Description
Job Summary:
New Indy Packaging is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Shipping Supervisor to oversee the shipping and logistics operations at our corrugated converting facilities in Cerritos and Ontario. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and timely movement of finished goods, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and maintaining high standards in shipping accuracy and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations:
  • Oversee daily shipment planning and execution across both converting facilities.
  • Monitor and manage the status of outbound loads and coordinate internal Work In Progress (WIP) and Finished Goods (FG) transfers between all converting sites and offsite warehouses
  • Supervise and provide guidance to shipping loaders across all active facilities.
  • Conduct routine floor walks to inspect load quality and pallet integrity, ensuring all shipments meet company standards (e.g., stretch wrap, strapping, loading configuration, cleanliness).
  • Collaborate with the scheduler or shipping clerk at "sister-company" to prioritize and direct loading activity effectively.
  • Verify warehouse transfers are accurate and identify issues such as incorrect or "butt" pallets.
  • Manage shipping appointments and ensure schedule adherence (with support from the shipping clerk and Venture as needed).
Logistics Coordination:
  • Communicate daily with 3rd party logistics partner regarding trailer movements, load status, and delays.
  • Coordinate trailer swaps for key customers
  • Notify Customer Service and Sales promptly of any shipping delays or disruptions.
  • Manage/monitor equipment, labor and resources to ensure we are lean and cost effective.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Participate in safety training which includes leading/providing training to staff
  • Enforce safety policy/protocol and ensure a safe, clean, organized work environment.
  • Monitor trailer and dock safety, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and procedures.
Monthly & As-Needed Responsibilities:
  • Oversee monthly and year-end inventory processes, ensuring accurate reconciliation and reporting.
  • Maintain and schedule bobtail maintenance as required.
  • Provide back-up support for the Shipping Clerk as needed.
  • Maintain and update the Common Carrier spreadsheet to track shipments and carrier performance.
  • Conduct cycle counts and oversee CTPAT program.
Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse supervision.
  • Prior experience in a corrugated packaging or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with logistics systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality
  • Bilingual/Spanish preferred
Education & Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College education preferred
  • 3-5+ years of industry specific experience
