Global Sourcing Manager
As a key member of the Supply Chain team, the Global Sourcing Manager plays a critical role in driving value across multiple functional areas of the business. This position is responsible for sourcing and managing a diverse range of materials essential to plant productionincluding packaging, containers, trays, tags, labels, and other input components.
The Sourcing Manager will develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to ensure alignment with company goals related to cost efficiency, quality, reliability, and innovation. This role requires strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms while ensuring on-time delivery across a global supply base.
The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the agricultural or horticultural production process, including knowledge of the materials used and the variables that influence their cost and availability. Success in this role requires a balance of strategic thinking, market insight, and hands-on execution.
Primary Duties:
- Develop sourcing strategies for assigned categories to meet business goals.
- Research, evaluate, and onboard suppliers that align with company standards in quality, cost, innovation, and sustainability.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure optimal performance and partnership alignment.
- Remain informed on market developments, sourcing best practices, and emerging technologies that can drive efficiency and competitive advantage.
Cost Optimization & Negotiation:
- Lead contract negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, quality standards, and timely delivery.
- Identify and drive cost reduction initiatives by analyzing market trends for cost-savings and risk mitigation.
- Manage the total cost of ownership (TCO) for assigned categories and provide regular updates to senior management.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal teams, including product development, quality assurance, logistics, and operations, to support new product launches and continuous improvement efforts.
- Partner with the commercial team to align sourcing strategies with sales and market demand forecasts.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment on supplier performance, risk management, and operational efficiency.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Assess supplier risk factors, including geopolitical, financial, and operational risks, and develop contingency plans as needed.
- Monitor supplier compliance with legal, ethical, and environmental standards, and lead efforts in sustainability and social responsibility within the supply chain.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze market trends, supplier performance data, and spend data to make informed sourcing decisions.
- Develop and present sourcing reports, savings analysis, and risk assessments to senior leadership.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier performance, cost savings, and sourcing milestones.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in sourcing activities and work to streamline procurement operations.
Secondary Duties:
- Identify alternative supply options and value engineering opportunities for ongoing business support.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system maintenance and accuracy.
- Monitor raw material pricing and identify mitigation and/or advanced sourcing opportunities.
- Develop and support metric driven category approaches.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required in Supply Chain, International Business, or related business field is preferred.
- Four years of experience in sourcing is preferred.
- Proven negotiator with dynamic procurement experience.
- Understanding of the following Supply Chain functions: Demand/Supply, Inventory, Production, Capacity Planning, Warehousing.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification is a plus.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management.
- Working experience in project management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Full time flexibility to work extra time if needed.
- Ability to travel up 40% - this role requires travel to our farms in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and the Dominican Republic. This role also includes travel to other nurseries, trade shows, and external vendors.
