Summary Operating production equipment in a quality and proficient manner.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Must be able to weld aluminum, stainless steel and carbon steel. Uses MIG welder to assemble fabricated metal products in an efficient manner to maximize production. Operates the equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operators to the Safety Director and Maintenance Department. Produces strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent. Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process. Maintains/produces a level of output that will minimize production delays. Cleans and maintains an orderly work area. Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow. Assist other individuals in area when needed. Other duties as assigned. Perform equipment change-overs. Responsible for quality control. Complete daily production paperwork. Operate within standard operating procedures. Perform equipment and tooling Preventative Maintenance as required. Operate forklift. Clean and maintain work area. Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
Knowledge of the welding process and equipment. Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead welds with a good penetration and a quality appearance. Ability to operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torches. Must be able to use tape measure, calipers, etc. Must be able to read blue prints. Mechanical aptitude/ability, i.e.: cutting rubber/aluminum, drilling and tapping, etc. Fundamental knowledge of adhesive and fasteners.
Physical/Medical Requirements
Pre-employment drug screening. Lifting 50 to 100 pounds. Use of safety equipment including but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, safety boots or shoes. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
Education Requirement
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) Five years' experience welding, or training from an accredited technical college or adult educational facility.
