Mara is building low cost, tactical autonomous systems to secure a long-term strategic advantage for the United States and its allies in the free world. We are currently working to fulfill direct demand from our first customers, Ukrainian front-line commanders, by Q4 ’25.

As a Wargamer at Mara, you will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and supporting the use of our simulation pipeline to train and validate our robotic systems. This role involves working closely with folks involved in machine learning, robotics, and aerospace engineering on a regular basis. Game development skills are a must.
Responsibilities
Design, development, and testing of simulation software for UAVs and other robots
Design, development, and testing of lightweight internal tools to support engineering tasks
Periodically assist in deploying software
Periodically assist with real world testing efforts (may involve travel)
Required skills
Open and direct communication, whether it’s writing up issues, codebase documentation, or face-to-face feedback during a 1:1
Independently learning new technical skills to unblock yourself mid-build
Technical competencies
Using a game engine as a full-stack simulation environment (not just for visuals)
Building custom plugins, APIs, and tools with low-level interaction with the engine
Spotlessly documenting & organizing tooling
Developing software with real time constraints
Sim2Real workflows for developing control and perception systems for robotics
Bonus points
Personal projects (particularly involving UAVs, ML, robotics, or game dev)
Experience with >1 game engine
Open source contributions
A general awareness of cybersecurity concepts
Qualifications and requirements
Proficiency in C++ and Unreal Engine.
(optional) A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Day-to-day responsibilities
