Overview
Staff Technical Program Manager, Hardware Sensing at ŌURA. This role is within the Hardware Program Management group and is intended for an experienced and strategic TPM to drive the implementation of cutting-edge, health-focused sensing technologies across hardware, firmware, software, science, and design engineers. This position reports to the Senior Director of Hardware Programs. Responsibilities
Lead Programs: Drive end-to-end delivery of complex health sensing features across hardware, firmware, software, science, and design—from concept to launch. Align Teams: Bridge disciplines, manage tradeoffs, resolve conflicts, and ensure smooth cross-functional execution. Plan & Execute: Build and maintain schedules, dependencies, and risk mitigation plans; proactively clear roadblocks. Communicate: Provide clear, tailored updates to executives, engineers, and partners; align on strategy and progress. Manage Vendors: Oversee key external partners for sensor development and manufacturing. Ensure Quality: Own testing and validation standards to deliver reliable, high-quality products. Shape Practices: Establish best practices, mentor senior team members, and foster a collaborative culture. We have offices in San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles for those who prefer hybrid or office settings. Oura employees in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations. Requirements
10+ years experience managing full product lifecycle across hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing. Proven track record shipping innovative products with sensing components (consumer electronics/health tech preferred). Strong technical depth in EE, ME, firmware, or embedded software; able to drive architecture and technical tradeoffs. Hardware + Software expertise: Skilled in NPI, prototyping, validation, scalable production, and Agile software development. Cross-disciplinary collaboration: Experienced working with research, science, and design teams to turn insights into products. Excellent communicator with strong negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Advanced PM tool proficiency (Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet) and ability to optimize workflows. Thrives in ambiguity, fast-moving environments, and global cross-timezone programs. Passion for health, wellness, and wearable technology. Nice to have
Experience with regulated medical devices (ISO 13485, FDA). Knowledge of advanced health sensors and ultra-low-power development. Experience with global manufacturing and supply chains. Note: Up to 25% global travel is required for this position. Benefits
