A law firm seeks an
Experienced Immigration Attorney
to join its legal team in
New York, NY . This position offers a meaningful opportunity for a skilled attorney to manage a diverse caseload of complex immigration matters. The firm handles both family-based and removal defense cases, with a particular focus on intricate immigration issues such as inadmissibility due to past conduct, unlawful entry, and prior removal orders. The selected candidate will work closely with clients to develop creative legal strategies, provide thorough representation, and help individuals and families navigate the complexities of U.S. immigration law. Duties: Handle a caseload that includes
removal defense ,
family-based immigration , and
humanitarian relief cases . Represent clients in
Immigration Court , before
USCIS , and at other administrative hearings. Develop strategies for overcoming
inadmissibility issues
related to criminal records, fraud findings, or unlawful entries. Prepare and file
waivers, appeals, motions to reopen , and related legal documents. Advise clients on eligibility for
relief options , including
asylum ,
cancellation of removal ,
SIJS (Special Immigrant Juvenile Status) , and other humanitarian benefits. Conduct
client consultations , thoroughly explaining legal processes, risks, and available options. Draft and review declarations, affidavits, and supporting evidence to build
strong case files . Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to
ensure timely case progression . Stay up to date with evolving
immigration laws , regulations, and policy changes. Requirements: Minimum of
2 years’ experience
handling complex immigration matters, including:
Removal defense
and court representation Cases involving
fraud, unlawful presence, criminal histories, and prior orders of removal Family immigration cases and humanitarian relief petitions
Ability to independently
manage a substantial caseload
while ensuring high-quality representation. Strong interpersonal skills for working directly with
clients from diverse backgrounds . Confidence advocating in
Immigration Court
and presenting persuasive arguments before judges. Education: Juris Doctor (JD)
degree from an
accredited law school . Certifications: Admitted to practice law
in at least one
U.S. jurisdiction . Admission to the
New York State Bar
is strongly preferred. Skills: Excellent
legal research and writing
capabilities. Skilled in preparing detailed
legal briefs, motions, and supporting evidence . Analytical thinking to
develop creative legal solutions
for complex issues. Strong
oral advocacy
for courtroom representation. Outstanding organizational and time management abilities to juggle
multiple deadlines . Ability to
communicate legal concepts
