The City College of New York provides high-quality higher education to culturally, socially, economically, and academically diverse students from underserved populations. The Department of Psychology, the largest department at the College with over 2,000 students, seeks an Administrative Specialist to manage a wide range of departmental functions. Reporting to the Director of Academic Programs, the successful candidate will oversee all administrative activities related to the undergraduate master's and doctoral programs. Duties will include staff supervision, instructor hiring, course scheduling, and management of certifications and internship placements for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a commitment to improving student outcomes; strong administrative skills to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the Psychology Department; work well with faculty, staff, and students; meet deadlines; and work independently. The candidate should also possess and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, and staff, have experience placing students in internships, strong organizational skills, strong communication skills, and knowledge of database programs.

- Oversees department operations and assists management in planning department activities, creating schedules, assigning staff and preparing and delivering department communications.
- Works with appropriate offices related to personnel recruitment, expediting search activities
- Research coordinates and organizes materials for key events such as promotion and tenure reviews.
- Supervises and trains support staff and student workers.
- Manages budget and coordinates purchasing, accounting, and payroll.
- Provides instructions and basic advice to students, faculty, and others seeking information on department activities, policies, and schedules.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $76,937 -$86,741. Salary commensurate with education and experience.

- Trains, supervises, motivates, and manages a team of students and staff professionals in implementing and monitoring the Psychology Department's ongoing operations
- Manages budget and coordinates purchasing, accounting, and payroll.
- Plans and implements teaching schedules for all academic programs (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral)
- Coordinates with chair and program directors to schedule courses and plan program activities
- Supervises and trains support staff and student workers
- Monitors CASAC students' academic momentum, certifications, and internship placements and communicates with NY State Office of Addiction Services and Supports
- Manages hiring, onboarding and implementing training workshops for adjunct instructors and teaching assistants
- Assists in assessing academic momentum, teaching effectiveness, and enrollment targets in academic programs
- Works with the department chair and the Director of Academic Programs to develop and implement innovative solutions to support students' needs
- Retrieves, analyzes, and utilizes relevant data to inform planning, decision making, and management practice
