Corporate Accountant

Dessert Holdings is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team at the HQ office in St. Paul, MN . This is a key role in supporting and fostering the growth of Dessert Holdings by helping to build repeatable and sustainable processes and practices within accounting. This includes providing technical accounting expertise, assisting with financial reporting, and driving operational excellence.
This is not a remote position we work onsite in the St. Paul office 4 days per week.
The typical hiring range for this role is $80,000 to $120,000 annually and is based on several factors such as education, work experience, skills, certifications, location, etc. In addition to pay, Dessert Holdings offers benefits such as a choice of comprehensive medical plans, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation and holidays, and retirement contributions to all eligible employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in managing the month-end financial close activities including preparing necessary journal entries, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, and completing balance sheet reconciliations each month.
- Contribute to the development and preparation of regular management reports and year-end financial statements.
- Support the financial statement audit and coordinate with external auditors.
- Act as SME for technical accounting topics or adopting new accounting pronouncements across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures.
- Foster relationships across the organization by providing functional advice, accounting expertise, and training to staff and business partners.
- Lead organizational enhancements of internal controls and accounting practices in support of PCAOB readiness.
- Participate in and represent Accounting/Finance in the implementation or modification of company systems (ERP, HRIS, etc.) to ensure appropriate financial integrity, controls, and audit trails for transactions impacting financial results.
- Make recommendations for policy and procedure improvements to simplify processes and support scalability. Establish techniques to discover and prevent fraud.
- Complete special projects as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
- At least 5+ years of related accounting experience.
- Consumer Packaged Goods/food manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Understanding of GAAP accounting principles and costing systems; CPA active status is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and complex ERPs (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Navision, JDEdwards, SAP).
- Ability to learn new software quickly and manage multiple systems simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- High flexibility in a dynamic environment.
