5-Axis Cnc Machine Operator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced 5-Axis CNC Machine Operator to join our precision manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating and maintaining 5-axis machining centers, including Okuma, SNK, Fidia, DMG Mori, and Line machines. The operator will be responsible for setting up, running, and inspecting complex components to tight tolerances using various aerospace production parts and tooling.

Key responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC machines (Okuma, SNK, Fidia, DMG, Henri Line) based on work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Load programs into machines using controls such as FanucorSiemens, depending on the machine make.
  • Conduct tool changes and adjust offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  • Perform first article inspection (FAI), in-process checks, and final part verification using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
  • Read and interpret GD&T symbols and engineering drawings.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and collaborate with programmers or engineers to optimize cutting strategies.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and ensure the machine is in proper working condition.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in CNC machining is a plus.
  • 35+ years of hands-on experience operating 5-axis CNC machines.
  • Proven experience on at least two or more of the following machines: Okuma, SNK, Fidia, DMG Mori, Line.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code.
  • Familiarity with tight-tolerance machining (+/- .0005 or better).
  • Proficiency in setup, tool selection, and offset adjustments.
  • Ability to work independently and interpret complex blueprints.
  • Experience with aluminum, steel, titanium, or Inconel is a plus.

Preferred:

  • Experience in aerospace or high-precision industries.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, NX, or similar).
  • Knowledge of machine probing systems and Renishaw tools.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing floor with moderate noise levels.
  • Standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required.
