Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: CT Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: ARRT R.T.(R) & advanced registry in CT, R.T.(CT) Certifications: American Heart Association BLS required Must-Have: - Graduate of a Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Radiology program or equivalent - Two years of radiology experience as a registered technologist - Preferred one year of previous CT experience in a trauma center Description: The Acute Care Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist provides health care services by assisting in diagnosis or treatment. Performs CT procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Operates a CT scanner to obtain images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies. Uses knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high-quality images for interpretation by radiologists and other medical professionals. Modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure. Performs routine quality inspections and quality control maintenance on the scanner as recommended by the manufacturer and/or organizational policies and procedures. Performs CT exams and procedures for various hospital departments as requested by the medical staff. Assists the Radiologist and other medical staff during exams and procedures. Performs ancillary duties as required to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures. Completes documentation, in the designated area, of all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams. Retrieves written orders and related health information to ensure the timely performance and reporting of exams and procedures. Participates in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of quality indicators as described in the strategic plan. Works independently in a highly complex, acute care inpatient setting. Trains and supports peers. Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality. Performs essential job functions successfully in a busy and stressful environment. Learns current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized in the facility. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work while meeting multiple deadlines. Works varied shifts and participates in call rotation as scheduled and/or needed. Physical Requirements: Lifting, pushing, and pulling: Support up to 50 pounds of weight. Lift up to 50 pounds and carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength for tasks such as CPR or physically restraining patients. The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily. The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly. Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies. The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families. Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities. Job tasks may involve exposure to Bloodborne pathogens, radiation, various chemicals, and medications used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances. There is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses.
