Job Title: Radiologic Technologist I Profession: Radiology Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: Must possess a state license Certifications: Applicant must meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass the examination Description: The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision. This role performs all essential generic job functions, as listed below. Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and providing immobilization devices. Selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. Selects and operates equipment as required for specific procedures. Restricts radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure to unaffected parts of the patient. Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms. Follows operational procedures to identify patients’ films with names and x-ray numbers, correctly marking films to indicate the side of the patient taken. Develops exposed x-ray films by processing methods available. Completes patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, number, and size of film. Maintains an orderly x-ray room as directed by the head of the department. Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists physicians in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients. Performs administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, instructing patients, filing films, maintaining records, and reception of patients. Renders services and assistance to all patients depending on their individual needs and abilities. Communicates effectively with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver at their developmental or educational level. Adheres to the organization’s established competencies and standards. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day. Identifies patient population needs and modifies care accordingly.
