JOB SUMMARY: Be home every night!
Operate and maintain Lurvey fleet vehicles to deliver customer purchases to various jobsites and transfer material between Lurvey locations. (ex. plant material, bulk mulch or stone, boulders, statuary etc.) Load and expedite material from delivery truck to location specified by Lurvey dispatcher. Operate in a safe and logical manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Driving & Delivery Ensuring load is safe and secure before leaving Lurvey Supply Perform pre and post trip inspections on the tractor and trailer that is being utilized Obeying all state and local traffic laws. Maintaining delivery truck cleanliness and perform morning vehicle maintenance checklist Actively serve our delivery customer's needs, treating them with respect Utilize GPS to expedite the rate and speed of deliveries. Loading & General Operations
Greet and thank customers for their business Load delivery vehicle with designated material Communicate with Lurvey dispatcher to facilitate customer needs Unload material at customer jobsites via truck mounted forklift (Moffett/Princeton) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
Valid Commercial Driver's License A (CDL A) and Clean driving record 3 Years of Commercial Driving experience Ability to operate a forklift Must meet all DOT/FMCSA requirements Valid air brake endorsement Comfortable with getting into and off of delivery truck bed frequently (i.e. lifting, bending etc...) Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance (i.e. checking oil and other fluids, battery connections etc) Knowledge of diesel equipment is a plus Acceptance of training for load covering, material securing and various load requirements. Training from seasoned Lurvey delivery driver required Superb customer service skills Strong common sense and problem solving skills Physical requirements include heavy-duty work (exerting 100+ lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. constantly) Other physical activities include climbing (using feet and legs and/or hand and arms), stooping and/or crouching (bending your body downward), reaching, standing for sustained periods of time, walking for long distances, pushing (pressing with steady force), pulling (drawing and/or hauling objects), lifting (moving objects vertically and/or horizontally), grasping objects, talking (speaking detailed information) and hearing (perceiving sound) Visual acuity required to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment Ability to handle hazards such as moving vehicles, moving mechanical parts and working in high places Ability to handle fumes, odors, dust, gases or poor ventilation Ability to work indoors and outdoors with no effective protection from the weather. Employee may be subject to any combination of: extreme cold, extreme heat, high humidity or other adverse conditions. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus
