General Summary Rare opportunity for a high performing individual who is looking to excel in a collaborative science driven organization. The Director of NACFT, Kidney Diseases is responsible for leading the field training efforts for Vertex’s kidney disease franchises, including Povetacicept (POVE) and APOL1-Mediated Kidney Disease (AMKD). This individual will lead a team of Associate Training Directors who will lead projects focused on delivering disease, product, and competency-based learning for field team utilization, including initial onboarding, pre-launch programs, launch training, all national and regional field meetings and new-hire training for our North America (NA) Commercial field teams.

Key Responsibilities

Development of disease education content and materials for designated POVE indications and AMKD to train our US commercial teams when required

Work cross-functionally to develop, deliver and evaluate training programs, curricula and corresponding training materials and programs for field representatives and field leadership

Design all relevant training modules and onboarding materials in accordance with Medical, Marketing, Regulatory and Legal guidance

Proactively identify training needs and develop effective strategies for deployment to field teams

Organize, facilitate and continually improve field team(s) training and orientation, including the roll-out of new materials, messages, competitive selling and other training tools

Work with Commercial cross-functional teams to plan, design and deliver all training at National Meetings and POAs

Proactively conduct on-going communications with field management and other key stakeholders to identify training needs and develop role-specific training objectives and strategies to meet those needs

Represent Learning and Development in brand and business planning and product launches

Partner with HR team to ensure alignment with company learning and development philosophy

Manage the identification and selection of vendors, and subsequent relationships and projects relating to field training

Stay abreast of learning, training and development best practices and current trends in pharmaceutical and life science industries - utilizing current advances within digital, live, and virtual platforms

Complete ad hoc projects and analyses relating to group responsibilities as requested

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA or relevant Master’s degree preferred

10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry

3+ years commercial training experience in field or training role

Ability to balance and meet the training needs of multiple field teams and prioritize efforts according to business criticality

Proven communication skills with a well-developed ability to efficiently and productively communicate both verbally and in writing

Ability to influence, collaborate and interact effectively with a senior leadership team and multiple key stakeholders across teams to align objectives and provide consistent training direction

Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities including budgeting and actual spending against budget is required

Ensure that all training programs are consistent with, and supporting of, company legal, regulatory and compliance guidelines

Skillful team player able to develop rapport and credibility with key stakeholders

Ability to work independently and on a team; a positive, team-focused approach is essential

Experience with and ability to use Microsoft Office and associated tools (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ability to travel domestically as needed

Pay Range $191,700 - $287,600

Disclosure Statement The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select

On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
