We do this by providing housing and rental assistance, mental health services, immigration legal services, education programs, and community organizing programs that advocate for systems change.
Position Summary
Promotor/as are responsible for conducting outreach and educational activities to build relationships with the East San Jose community and promote awareness of relevant topics and resources, increase access to services, and opportunities for community organizing and advocacy. Promotor/as are skilled and respected community members who work within their community to bring resources, advocacy and needed services to increase the quality of life for families. Promotor/as strengthen the ability of immigrant communities in East San Jose to identify issues of concern, confront barriers, propose locally defined solutions, inform policies, change organizational practices, and improve individual and community health outcomes.
The Mobility Wallet Program is a basic mobility pilot providing monthly fare subsidies to vulnerable and very low-income residents and their families in East San Jose. The program is an initiative aimed at ensuring equitable access to transportation, providing residents with transportation options to access jobs, education, healthcare, and other essential services.
The Vietnamese Bilingual Promotor/a for the Mobility Wallet Program will work to conduct outreach to the Vietnamese community in East San Jose to spread awareness of the Mobility Wallet Program, recruit eligible participants, and assist participants with the application process.
Essential Job Functions
Provide community education and outreach related to the Mobility Wallet Program to individuals and families within designated areas of East San Jose
Actively participate in training provided by Mobility Wallet Program Coordinator
Plan and organize pop-up community events and other public events for local neighborhoods
Make program referrals to the Mobility Wallet Program, and follow up with individuals to ensure they completed the application process
Develop relationships with local health care, social service providers, and other local non-profit organizations to facilitate information sharing and service provision
Attend conferences, workshops, and trainings as directed and/or required
Assist in completing other program goals and requirements
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications And Skills
Cultural and linguistic fluency in Vietnamese required
Experience working with underserved communities and familiarity with community resources
Intermediate computer skills
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
