About The Role We are looking for a Head of Social Media to own our iconic brand channels. Your work will be seen by millions on our highest-impact marketing channels. As a core member of our growing marketing team, you are someone who has a deep understanding of social media, content creation, and cultural trends. You live on the For You Page and love creating content that engages, entertains, and inspires. The ideal candidate is highly creative and self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, and collaborates well with others.

You will

Own what goes out on our global social channels, including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube channels

Create content that consistently entertains and generates strong organic reach

Improve our content and test bold ideas, balancing creative insight with quantitative analysis

Define the tone of our mascot Duo and translate the Duolingo brand to our social audiences

Be accountable for growing our organic impressions, follower growth, and building brand love

Manage, hire, and coach a best-in-class social team that breaks ground on what it means to be "social-first"

Bring a social understanding to our global and local campaigns - mentoring other marketing team members on what works on social

Ideate and execute on social-first campaigns that break through in culture

You have

7-10 years social media experience at major brand or organization, including at least 2-3 years of management experience

Proven track record of growing social communities over time

Creative portfolio showcasing work that resonates in culture, articulates clear concepts, and drives business growth

Ability to work in high-level content strategy and hands-on production tasks with extreme attention to detail

Experience leading video productions from concepting to distribution

Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build trust, influence partners, and inspire teams

Excellent communication skills that lead to effective and concrete output

Ability to relocate to and work in Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY

Exceptional candidates will have

Experience working on both in-house teams and in a studio/agency

An interest in language learning

Salary

We post a multi-level salary range for all of our roles. This is not inclusive of equity compensation and world-class benefits. Salary ranges are the same for all US locations. The actual salary within the range is determined by many factors including but not limited to skills, experience, education, and internal equity.

Salary Range

$189,600—$342,000 USD
