What We’re Looking For Toyota’s North America Quality (NAQ) Systems & Technology Platforms team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated NA Quality Senior Software Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to be the technology leader responsible for application development and support across the North American Supplier Quality Systems.

Reporting to the Manager, the person in this position will plan, advise, and provide internal consulting services to develop and apply technology solutions that align with business goals and objectives. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Supplier Quality Business, Principal Engineers and Technical Product Owners required for designing, developing, and managing activities for Supplier Quality software products from product definition and planning through production, release, modernization, maintenance/operations, and end of life.

Reporting to the OneTech Manager for NA Quality, the person in this role will support the NAQ department with the objective of proactively seeking opportunities to apply technology to business challenges and processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

Technical Leadership and Team Management

Lead and inspire application development scrum teams.

Cultivate a collaborative, technically proficient team culture that encourages innovative problem-solving.

Develop a strong and healthy relationship with your business counterparts. Understand the business and proactively support upcoming initiatives.

Strategic Planning

Develop and execute a product/technical roadmap for application development projects.

Collaborate with the Manager, Sr. Manager, Principal Engineers and Business to establish a forward-looking product/technical strategy and vision for the application development team.

Project Management

Proactively manage and mitigate risks and issues.

Ensure all projects follow the standard Agile methodology.

Establish clear priorities, develop robust implementation plans and allocate resources.

Oversee planning, execution, and successful delivery of concurrent development projects.

Ensure that projects are executed within specified timelines, scope, and budget constraints.

Technical Excellence

Maintain a high level of technical expertise and stay current with emerging industry best practices.

Enforce governance processes and technical assessments to guarantee the quality, scalability, and security of applications.

Cross-functional Technical Collaboration

Articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Collaborate effectively with architecture, security, data, Cloud, NAQ Platform and other OneTech product teams to ensure seamless product launches.

Process Optimization

Identify and act on opportunities for improving development processes, tools, and workflows.

Implement best practices to optimize efficiency and productivity.

What You Bring

Education Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or Management Information Systems.

Experience 5-7 years of progressive experience in Software Engineering and Solution Architecture. Strong record of delivering enterprise-grade solutions across multi-year initiatives.

Cloud & Infrastructure

Demonstrated hands-on work experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including the following products:

Serverless Architecture (AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway)

Managed Database Products (Amazon RDS [Aurora], DynamoDB)

Containerization (Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS)

Search and Analytics (AWS OpenSearch, Amazon QuickSight)

Software Development

Demonstrated hands-on work experience in full-stack development using:

Backend: Java, NodeJS, GraphQL

Frontend: Angular

APIs: REST and SOAP services

Identity & Security

Experience implementing modern authentication and authorization mechanisms including:

OAuth2

ForgeRock Identity Platform

DevOps & Agile Delivery Framework

Strong familiarity with DevOps practices, including automated CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.

Actively engaged in Agile/Scrum environments with emphasis on iterative delivery and continuous improvement.

Data Visualization & Reporting Practical experience building dashboards and reports using tools like Microsoft Power BI and AWS QuickSight.

Production Support & Operations Proven ability to support mission-critical applications in production environments, ensuring service level objectives are met, system performance is maintained, and upgrade cycles are executed effectively.

Non-Technical

Experience using written and verbal communication skills effectively, with the ability to create and present concepts, influence and persuade the business, and make recommendations to management

Experience providing guidance to application support and/or project implementation vendors

Program and/or project management experience

Experience working with/in Agile teams

Added bonus if you have

AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional), Certified Developer (Associate) and related AWS Professional level technical certifications.

Experience with Site Reliability Engineering practices and concepts in application support

Experience working with legacy Java applications.

Familiarity with Informatica, Kafka, MQ

Automotive manufacturing/industry experience
