Overview
The Project Engineering Director is responsible for overseeing the development of the engineering design and execution of construction design administration to support FUJIFILM Biotechnologies $3.4B expansion in Holly Springs, North Carolina. This role leads all engineering focused initiatives and activities while monitoring project milestones and achievements to ensure successful completion of project scope within the defined or adjusted parameters. Additionally, this role collaborates extensively with internal and external stakeholders ensuring that lessons learned are provided promptly and that the right people are assigned the right tasks. Oversees the complex engineering design and processes required to construct and validate FUJIFILM Holly Springs investment projects Drives and monitors project milestones and achievements to ensure successful completion of project scope, from early basis of design (BOD), through construction administration, to engineering support through commissioning and validation phases within the defined or adjusted parameters Leads a large, multi-disciplined contract engineering team with energy and focus through each unique phase of the project Works closely with selected EPCM partner to maintain FUJIFILM’s “One Team” approach Prioritizes and fosters a strong cost and schedule adherence mindset within the engineering scope to maintain FUJIFILM’s commitment of “Unprecedented Delivery” Collaborates extensively with cross-functional teams, clients, vendors, and partners Communicates with leadership and key stakeholders on delays and obstacles that may impact daily functions and project deliverables Maintains comprehensive records of all project activities, such as agreements, changes, etc. Identifies potential risks and implements mitigation strategies and effective problem-solving ensuring project continuity and safety Performs other duties, as assigned Knowledge and Skills
Ability to collaborate across the site within FUJIFILM globally, due to the significant interfacing cross-functionally Ability to lead a 20+ personnel engineering team within a heavily matrixed organization Broad technical engineering expertise within a regulated environment Ability to drive core team culture priorities (e.g., safety, cost consciousness, leadership principals) into the way of working Demonstrated leadership abilities within a matrixed organization Excellent communication and collaboration skills Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field with 12+ years of engineering or related experience in a regulated environment Experience executing within a dynamic and fast-paced environment Preferred Requirements
Master’s degree in relevant engineering field Experience within facility commissioning and CGMP validation scopes Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Will work in environment which may necessitate respiratory protection; may work in Mechanical/Production spaces that may require hearing protection and enrollment in a hearing conservation program. Ability to discern audible cues. Ability to inspect or perform a task with 20/20 corrected vision, visual acuity, including distinguishing color. Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions that include wrists, hands and/or fingers. Ability to operate machinery and/or power tools. Ability to conduct work that includes moving objects up to a specified weight. Ability to bend, push or pull, reach to retrieve materials from 18” to 60” in height, and use twisting motions.
