Overview
Bay Area based philanthropic foundation seeks an Accounting Manager to lead and manage the monthly general ledger activity, year-end close, reconciliations, journal entries and preparation of financial statements, with a focus on automation. The role will manage the annual audit and support the preparation and filing of foundation tax returns, and other compliance filings. The role will also support grant payment processing and accounts payable functions. This role will report to the Controller, manage a team of 2-3 and work onsite 2-3 days a week in Menlo Park. Responsibilities
Lead monthly general ledger activity, prepare financial statements, and manage year-end close. Perform reconciliations, journal entries, and ensure accurate financial reporting. Oversee annual external audit and support preparation and filing of foundation tax returns and other compliance filings. Support grant payment processing and accounts payable functions. Drive process improvements and automation within accounting processes. Supervise and develop a team of 2-3 staff; collaborate with other departments as needed. Collaborate with the Controller on technical accounting matters and GAAP compliance. Qualifications
7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA is required. Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Prior nonprofit experience and/or a strong desire to work in a mission-driven organization. Experience implementing or optimizing accounting systems and automation tools. Employment details
