The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is committed to protecting and promoting the health of all San Franciscans. The department’s mission is carried out through the San Francisco Health Network, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services, and Administration, with locations including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and more than 15 primary care health centers. The 7203 Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising craft workers involved in buildings and grounds maintenance and related activities, ensuring quality and safety in daily operations and projects. Responsibilities

Supervise and assign duties to staff, ensuring work quality and progress meet standards. Interact with and assign work orders to Facilities Services Personnel as needed. Receive and process service requests for inspection, maintenance, and repair of all building systems. Maintain supply inventory and place orders as required. Maintain payroll and work records; prepare reports and correspondence. Oversee all aspects of building projects, including permitting, regulatory compliance, construction workflow, coordination, and communication with internal and external stakeholders. Plan and coordinate staff training programs. Coordinate and perform preventative maintenance on mechanical and building service systems (heating and ventilation, refrigeration, fire alarm and pumping systems, kitchen and therapy pool equipment) by inspecting, testing, cleaning, and lubricating machinery to ensure optimal operation and prevent failures. Monitor and repair automatic temperature and humidity control systems and other building systems, replacing defective parts as needed. Performs other duties as assigned/required. Qualifications

Experience Six (6) years of experience operating, maintaining and repairing a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration and related plant machinery and systems in large industrial, production, commercial or institutional buildings, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity directing operation and maintenance activities of subordinate personnel. License and Certification Possession of a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency for working with HVAC or other refrigeration equipment using CFCs/HCFCs. Possession of a valid class C Driver license. Applicants must meet the minimum qualification by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours (based on a 40-hour work week). Important Note:

– A written multiple-choice examination covering supervisory practices, delegation, customer service, leadership behavior, and reading comprehension. The score is banked for three years and may be applied to future recruitments. A passing score is required. Performance Exercise (Weight: 60%)

– Evaluation of knowledge, skills, and abilities in building maintenance, operation and repair of plant equipment, applicable codes and regulations, planning and directing subordinates, and record-keeping. A passing score on both components is required for placement on the Eligible List. Certification

– Rule of 3 scores may apply to the eligible list. The duration of the Eligible List is 6 months, with possible extension by the HR Director. Eligible List/Score
