BWXT is currently seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer 3 for its Lynchburg, VA location!
Responsibilities
Development of PLC programs for complex control systems. Familiarity with Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc., is preferred. This may include but is not limited to the following duties. Develop and review design and functional specifications Develop test plans Commission complex motion-based controls systems Performing and documenting control systems testing Troubleshooting software and hardware issues and implementing solutions Analyze plant processes for improvement and optimization Develop, maintain and peer review design schematics for new and existing equipment Specify and procure instrumentation and controls for new and existing equipment Ensure compliance with applicable internal processes and regulations Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to design and perform new installations and modifications to the facility power/controls distribution systems as required to support machinery and production at the NOG-L manufacturing facility Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology and experience of at least 7 years are required; other undergraduate degrees may be considered if the technical content is merited Moderate knowledge of PLC, HMI and controls programming (Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.) Motion-based programming (Rockwell/Allen Bradley) Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience Working knowledge of National Electric Codes, NFPA 70E and 29 CFR 1910 OSHA Standards Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance Works independently and with minimal guidance, and can interpret internal or external business issues to recommend best practices or solutions Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
