Leidos is seeking a talented and proactive

Systems Engineer

to enhance our elite technical team. This role involves contributing to pivotal projects that support our national security mission. What You'll Do:

Primary Responsibilities: Systems Administration Perform routine system administration tasks including user management, patching, backup/restore, scheduled jobs, and file permissions.

Troubleshoot and maintain Linux (Rocky, CentOS, Debian) and Windows Server environments.

Implement security updates and configuration changes in line with operational policies.

Infrastructure & Virtualization Support Oversee virtualization platforms such as Nutanix AHV, KVM (via virsh), and VMware.

Provision, monitor, and decommission virtual machines according to project and operational requirements.

Document VM configurations, resource usage, and dependencies.

Storage Administration Support NAS/SAN platforms, including NetApp, for storage, backups, and user file shares.

Assist with storage provisioning and capacity planning efforts.

Monitoring & Logging Manage SolarWinds for infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis.

Assist with Kiwi Syslog Server configuration and log analysis for operational insights and incident response.

Help refine thresholds, log retention policies, and alerting workflows.

Networking & Security Support network troubleshooting, including VLANs, routing, NAT, firewall rules, DNS, and DHCP.

Assist with VPN tunnels and internal network segmentation strategies.

Implement and uphold security baselines and patch compliance.

Support & Documentation Act as Tier 2 support for tickets and escalated user/system issues.

Maintain accurate documentation, including diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, and inventory records.

Assist with hardware tracking and change management processes.

Redundancy & Project Support Serve as the operational backup for the senior systems engineer.

Participate in infrastructure and system upgrade projects.

Be available for after-hours support and planned maintenance as necessary.

Required Clearance:

Must possess an active and in scope

TS/SCI With Poly

to be considered. Travel:

This position may require intermittent OCONUS travel to a middle east location. Required Skills, Education, and Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least 12 years of experience OR Master's degree and at least 10 years of experience OR additional relevant experience, certifications, and military service combined, may be considered in lieu of degree.

3-5 years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering roles.

Proficient in Linux and Windows Server environments.

Hands-on experience with virtualization using Nutanix AHV, virsh/KVM, or VMware.

Familiarity with enterprise storage, specifically NetApp.

Solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, IP routing, and firewalls.

Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as SolarWinds and Kiwi Syslog.

Scripting skills in Bash or PowerShell.

Strong documentation practices and troubleshooting capabilities.

Professional communication skills and a collaborative approach.

Pay Range: Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only, and additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market data.
