Overview

Education Director at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF). The Education Director provides leadership for the Club for all academic programs and initiatives for youth ages 6-18. The Director has general responsibility for the Learning Center and is directly responsible to the Clubhouse Director. The Director shall plan, organize, direct and control the program and maintenance of the Education Department within the policies of the organization. The Director shall assume accountability for the results in achieving the outlined goals and objectives of the Education Program. This is a full-time position supporting the Don Fisher Clubhouse (35 hours during the academic year, 40 hours during summer). Responsibilities

Education Department Duties (70%) Serve as a leader and resource for all Club staff and members in academics and educational programs Plan, organize, and conduct educational programs, including homework help, tutoring, literacy, STEM and academic mentoring Maintain partnerships with schools to create channels of communication for academic support Manage partnerships with elementary schools and providers of literacy, STEM, and tutoring resources Develop and implement outreach strategies to attract new youth to the education program Collaborate to develop programs and strategies to support members and families during key educational transitions Promote participation in Learning Center activities among Club members Communicate the importance of completing high school and developing a pathway to college Work with paid and volunteer tutors and students on ongoing academic development Develop engaging, age-appropriate educational programs Create an environment that promotes creativity and exploration through learning Direct and supervise department activities and all part-time staff and volunteers Day-to-Day Duties (30%) Produce daily statistical reports to Clubhouse Leadership Attend meetings and trainings as required Assist with fundraising projects and Club-wide events Maintain professional appearance and conduct reflective of BGCSF standards Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university Minimum two years classroom teaching experience Strong classroom management skills Experience in curriculum development Experience working with school systems including educational advocacy Experience with youth from diverse backgrounds Experience with youth in grades 1-12 Ability to develop and implement organized educational programs and services Strong oral and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Class B license for operation of motor vehicles to transport youth within 90 days of employment Red Cross first aid/CPR certification within 90 days of employment Preferred Skills

Knowledge of current educational trends in after-school programming Knowledge of current evaluation and measurement trends Commitment to ongoing professional development Understanding of child/adolescent development theories Focus on grades 6-12 Strong computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, databases, records management) Physical Requirements

The wage range for this role is between $28-31 per hour, depending on experience and other factors. This may vary based on position requirements.
