Overview

Data Scientist role at Nuro. The Data Science team at Nuro is a centralized team and contributes advanced analytics and modeling expertise to enhance the development and operational performance of autonomous vehicle systems. As a Data Scientist, you will define key metrics, perform deep-dive analyses, and develop machine learning and statistical models to optimize autonomy systems performance and software deployment. You’ll own the full model lifecycle, from problem definition to productionization, and create models and visualizations to monitor performance and deliver actionable insights. By fostering data-driven decision-making across the organization, you’ll play a pivotal role in enabling real-world autonomous vehicle operations. Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to collect information and define metrics. Perform deep-dive analyses to inform fleet management and deployment of autonomous vehicles. Design and build machine learning and statistical models to advance vehicle testing and service operations. Own all stages of model development: problem definition, data quality assessment, mathematical research, productionization, documentation, and stakeholder support. Develop and maintain visualization dashboards to monitor operational performance metrics and deliver actionable insights. Advocate data-driven decision-making across the organization. Qualifications and Requirements

MS or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, or a related field. Hands-on experience with standard statistical methods (linear and logistic regression, SVM, confidence intervals, significance testing) and expertise in causal inference. Experience writing custom SQL and knowledge of database design. Proficiency in a scripting language (R or Python) for data manipulation and model development. Strong statistical inference skills with the ability to communicate uncertainty to engineering and business stakeholders. Experience designing metrics and mechanisms to drive business insights. Experience with data visualization tools (Looker). Must Haves

End-to-end data scientist capabilities: data manipulation for reporting/modeling, robust statistical analyses, dashboards, modeling, and stakeholder delivery. Excellent communication skills. Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $125,400 - $188,100, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and skills. This position may also include an annual performance bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
