Maintain all operations and direct reports within Hematology Oncology. Provide direct supervision to the Hem/Onc and all clinical providers within the section. Serve as the point of contact for physicians and clinical staff assigned to the department. Educate and train staff on clinical systems; focus on quality, outcomes, and alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to maintain high standards of quality and service. Act as a liaison between customers, Information Technology staff, and other departments and services. Lead projects, committees, and teams across the organization to meet department and facility needs (Pulmonary and facility referenced in context). Provide inpatient and outpatient consultative services in Hem/Onc, perform Hem/Onc procedures, triage consults, and answer secure messages and phone calls. Serve as the attending of record for patients in the medical intensive care unit and perform critical care procedures. Supervise trainees in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Remain up to date on licensing, board requirements, VA training, and employment requirements. Topics of communication include but are not limited to: strategic planning, operational considerations, human resources issues, budget, equipment management, environmental issues, process improvement, and liaison activities with other departments. VA offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package. Pay is a competitive salary with an annual performance bonus and regular salary increases. Paid Time Off:

50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, and up to 5 days CME). Retirement:

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions. Insurance:

Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care; many programs can be carried into retirement. Licensure:

1 full and unrestricted license from any US state or territory. CME:

No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Work Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Duty schedule subject to change based on agency needs. Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet the basic requirements listed below and any additional requirements in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensure may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA physicians meeting prior qualification standards are deemed to have met basic requirements. Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship:

Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens, per VA policy. Doctor of medicine or osteopathic medicine degree from a school approved by the VA for the year of completion. Current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in the United States, its territories, or the District of Columbia. Residency training approved by the VA; board eligibility or certification in a core specialty. Note: VA academic appointments may require board certification for faculty status. Other residencies with five years of verified practice in the United States may be deemed eligible by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee. Provisions for Residents and English proficiency are included as applicable. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Preferred Experience

Hematology/Oncology physician experience. Physical Requirements

Moderate lifting and carrying, various physical duties, and vision/hearing requirements as listed in the job announcement. Education

Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree from LCME- or AOA-accredited schools. Foreign medical graduates must meet ECFMG requirements where applicable.
