Overview
Strategic Account Manager - Data Centers at Phoenix Contact USA. The position provides leadership and direction in the establishment, development, and growth of assigned Strategic Accounts within the Industrial Components and Electronics Division. Responsibilities include creating strategic plans, communicating direction, implementing corporate business reviews, creating road-maps, expanding relationships at multiple levels, analysis and recommendations, corporate price negotiations, and leading cross-functional teams. Lead the development of a strategic plan and implement strategic initiatives for hyperscale data center customers to increase account share, revenue, profitability, and brand presence. Develop strategic roadmaps for assigned accounts, prioritizing locations and providing direction on revenue-generating sites. Analyze customer culture, needs, supply chain, and key metrics to recommend plans, initiatives, or corrective actions to maximize service levels. Lead and coordinate business reviews with assigned accounts, monitor competitive activity, and recommend improvements to the Phoenix Contact team. Organize and lead cross-functional teams to build and maintain trusting relationships with assigned accounts. Manage project transitions (specification, bid, procurement, implementation) and oversee the health of the opportunity pipeline. Develop presentations and proposals for customers, coordinating with necessary divisional resources. Communicate price negotiations/actions to internal teams and integrate channel strategies where applicable. Utilize the CRM as the primary tool for planning, reporting, measurement, and opportunity tracking; drive usage of sales tools. Engage in industry associations, distributor events, and customer events; demonstrate product/solution technical competence. Maintain compliance with corporate policies and procedures, including quotations, lead follow-up, and reporting. Collaborate with channel partners and marketing to implement national account strategies; assist in promoting packaged control systems and end-to-end solutions. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent in a technical discipline. 5+ years of proven success in Industrial Controls and Automation Sales. Experience with Data Center design, components, construction, commissioning, or service. Experience with global/high-profile accounts is preferred. BASE selling skills and ability to build mutually beneficial customer relationships. Experience leading cross-functional teams and strong networking, interpersonal, and influencing skills. Track record of achieving strategic and sales targets; experience managing sales through distribution is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication; self-motivation and adaptability; strong negotiation skills. Essential Job Functions
Must be able to travel by airplane; valid driver’s license required; able to operate an automobile for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (samples, demos, literature); overnight travel 35-45%+ as required by location; some international travel with valid passport. Comply with company dress code and maintain regular, on-time attendance.
