Employee/Labor Relations Consultant - Maui Health at Kaiser Permanente. Consults with management to provide expertise and guidance in facilitation, planning and execution of employee relations, labor relations and equal employment opportunity (EEO)/affirmative action (AA) related matters. Plans, implements and maintains employee relations, labor relations and EEO/AA programs and procedures. Works collaboratively with other areas of human resources to ensure consistent application/interpretation of policies, practices, contracts and strategies. Serves as a resource on applicable state and federal laws, regulatory requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and organizational policies, principles, practices and methodologies, and ensures human resources practices are in compliance with such. Essential Responsibilities

Consults with management to provide expertise and guidance in facilitation, planning and execution of employee relations, labor relations and EEO/AA matters. Provides advice and guidance on effective management practices related to workforce relations and change management. Works collaboratively with other areas of human resources to ensure consistent application/interpretation of employee relations, labor relations, and EEO/AA policies, practices, contracts and strategies. Plans, implements and provides ongoing maintenance of employee relations, labor relations, EEO/AA and HR compliance programs and procedures. Interprets and administers all aspects of collective bargaining agreements, including negotiations and grievances; coordinates with bargaining leads to implement actions. Analyses unit needs; anticipates barriers due to union, contractual or legal constraints; develops alternative approaches; informs long-term strategies affecting labor implications of business decisions. Develops and delivers training presentations on employee relations, labor relations and EEO/AA topics; conducts meetings/committees and leads projects as needed. Investigates grievances, disputes, and employee complaints; documents findings and assists in corrective actions; manages case processes to minimize liability and achieve fair outcomes. Maintains positive relationships with Unions; facilitates resolution of labor grievances and disputes; coordinates arbitrations, mediations and litigations as needed. Performs internal audits and participates in external audits; liaises with state and federal agencies as required. Compiles and distributes EEO/AA reports and statistics; provides input to bargaining strategies and proposals. Participates in negotiations as directed by the Director, Human Resources. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Minimum four (4) years of progressive professional human resources experience, with emphasis on employee relations, labor relations, collective bargaining, EEO, alternate dispute resolution and/or HR compliance or related experience. Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration with emphasis in human resources, labor relations, or related field, OR four (4) years of related experience. License, Certification, Registration

Driver's License (from any state) required at hire. Additional Requirements

Working knowledge of relevant employment and labor laws and regulations. Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, decision making, influence, interpersonal relations, communication, problem solving, results orientation, systems thinking, organization, multi-tasking and project management. Experience in collective bargaining agreement administration, including negotiation, arbitration, mediation and grievance handling. Preferred Qualifications

Previous management experience. Related experience in healthcare industry. Master's degree in business administration with emphasis in human resources, labor relations, or related field (optional). Job Details
