Overview
2026 Entry Level Gas Turbine Products Engineering Rotational Engineer – San Diego, CA (on-site 5 days a week). This role is part of the Gas Turbine Products Engineering Rotation Program within Turbomachinery Products (TMP). The program provides rotations across engineering departments to build gas turbine product knowledge and enable a challenging, rewarding engineering career at Solar Turbines/Caterpillar ecosystem. Responsibilities
Participate in multiple rotations of up to six months each across departments such as Mechanical Design, Combustion, Additive Manufacturing, Heat Transfer and Secondary Flow, Compressor Aerodynamics, Turbine Aerodynamics, Performance, Experimental Product Development and Test, Condition Based Engineering, Materials and Process Engineering, Aftermarket Engineering, Customer Services, and Product Application Engineering. Contribute to engineering assignments that generate core business value and help build foundational gas turbine product knowledge. At the conclusion of rotations, transfer to a long-term assignment within one of the Gas Turbine Product Engineering departments. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Science, or other related engineering discipline (or in progress with anticipated graduation). Overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale or higher. Technical knowledge of engineering fundamentals. Willingness and ability to relocate to San Diego, CA. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities. Effective problem-solving skills and technical judgment. Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions clearly. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Previous related internship or co-op experience. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Ideal for individuals building foundational skills in this field (0–2 years). Applicable Skills
Structural analysis using software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus). Material modeling. Statistics and data analytics. Coding: MATLAB, Python, C#, etc. Pragmatic and creative problem-solving abilities. Self-motivated work style. Compensation & Benefits
Base salary ranges from $92,500 to $118,000, depending on experience. Annual incentive bonus plan. Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting day 1.
