Medix™
Overview
As a key member of the EE team, this Principal Electrical Engineer will participate in all phases of the product development of medical devices from early concept through qualification, field test, and clinical use. This role will research, develop, design, prototype, and test electrical components, circuits, equipment, and systems that support active medical implant technology. Apply engineering and scientific principles to evaluate and solve technical problems; create and implement verification and validation testing plans and procedures. Work closely with numerous departments to ensure the timely delivery of a quality product. Capable of being self-directed and having technical leadership of various projects. Responsibilities
Analyze product specifications and performance requirements to determine and realize optimal electrical system architecture and detailed designs to meet applicable product requirements and regulatory standards that can be reliably produced by manufacturing. Create detailed assembly and fab drawings, schematics, PCB layout, and related design documents and risk analyses, including dFMEA and hazard analysis. Work closely with Software, Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, and Clinical engineers. Prepare and translate design documentation and details for cross-functional use outside Electrical Engineering. Innovate design solutions/tools to improve engineering performance and efficiency. Plan Design of Experiment, test fixtures, and test programs. Analyze test data and reports to determine if the design meets functional and performance specifications. Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products or equipment. Direct and/or coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype products or systems. Provide technical information and engineering leadership to manufacturing for processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations, which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning. Qualifications
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Minimum of 10 years of working experience in electrical engineering Minimum of 5 years of working experience in medical devices (FDA Class III / active implantable preferred) Minimum of 7 years of experience working on rigid and flexible PCBA designs and successful design transfer to manufacturing Proficient in using CAD design tools such as Altium Designer. SolidWorks strongly desired Expertise in very low-power analog and digital circuit design, power systems, battery technology, low-power embedded micro-controllers, FPGA, and communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, etc.) Experience with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), sub-1GHz, and inductive communication Bench experience on board bring-up, troubleshooting prototype designs, analyzing PCBA failures, and performing root-cause analysis on complex failure modes Proficiency with common lab bench equipment such as DMM, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Logic Analyzer, and Protocol Analyzer Additional Details
