Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, New Verticals at Flex. Flex is a growth-stage FinTech company focused on improving the rent payment experience. The role is based in a hybrid model with remote flexibility in NYC or San Francisco, with relocation assistance possible for candidates moving to NYC or SF. The Senior Director will spearhead Flex’s expansion into nascent, non-discretionary payment categories (e.g., insurance, HOAs, utilities, auto) and will lead high-value, complex partnerships from inception through go-live, partnering with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance to refine GTM strategy and ensure successful technical deployment and long-term partnership health. Reporting to the VP of Strategic Partnerships (New Verticals), this role requires an entrepreneurial, strategic leader who thrives in an early-stage environment. What You’ll Do
Pioneer New Markets: Identify, engage, and secure strategic enterprise partners for Flex’s embedded BNPL offering within new payment verticals, driving first-of-kind deals from inception to launch. Strategic Pipeline & Opportunity Management: Develop and manage a robust pipeline of high-value, complex opportunities, converting prospects into marquee accounts. Executive Relationship Building: Act as a trusted advisor to C-level executives at prospective partners, understanding their strategic priorities and positioning Flex’s solutions. Lead Complex Deal Negotiation: Negotiate and optimize legal and economic terms within term sheets and partnership agreements. Product & GTM Contribution: Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to integrate market feedback into product development, pricing, and positioning for the embedded GTM offering. End-to-End Partnership Launch: Lead partnerships from signed agreement through technical deployment and go-live, ensuring seamless execution and maximizing partner value. Key Qualifications
10+ years in strategic partnerships and/or enterprise sales within high-growth FinTech environments, with a focus on new market entry and zero-to-one product adoption. Proven track record of defining and executing growth strategies and closing first-of-kind opportunities with senior decision-makers for Payments/FinTech solutions, especially BNPL. Ability to close deals in new markets with new product/service offerings. Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills at the executive level. Strategic Vision & Execution: Able to think strategically, act decisively, and adapt to evolving market dynamics. Financial & Legal Acumen: Experience building deal models and navigating partnership economics and legal agreements. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing). Comfort with Ambiguity: Thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments with the ability to build structure in loosely defined situations. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred. Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with experience and Flex’s leveling guidelines. For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the OTE pay range will be $242,000-292,000.
