Overview
The Financial Crimes Compliance Analyst will perform AML and/or Fraud alert/case reviews, conduct research and analysis to identify unusual or potentially suspicious activity, document findings, and draft and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR). The role involves end-to-end reviews, transaction monitoring, customer profile assessment, and working independently as well as with a team to ensure client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Perform Anti Money Laundering (AML) and/or Fraud alert/case reviews to mitigate risks related to financial crimes and suspicious activity.
Apply research and analytic techniques to digest complex information and make well-supported determinations regarding unusual or potentially suspicious activity.
Apply consistent, well-documented analyses aligned with industry standards to support daily Transaction Monitoring activities.
Conduct end-to-end reviews of potential illegal or suspicious activity.
Complete time-sensitive analysis of each instance of potential OFAC sanctions violations, AML activity, fraud and/or suspicious financial activity across multiple jurisdictions and countries.
Assess customer profiles and client data to identify whether activity is consistent with typical purchasing/payment activity, including Acceptable Use Policy adherence and Know Your Customer efforts.
Document findings in narrative form in a transaction monitoring case management system and provide updates to Project Managers/Team Leads as appropriate.
Make determinations and, when appropriate, draft and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).
Execute and deliver high-quality work product, functioning both independently and in a collaborative setting with a focus on client satisfaction.
Learn client procedures, systems, and processes and adhere to client requirements.
What You Will Need
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience (relevant experience may be substituted for formal education or advanced degree).
2+ years of experience assessing and reviewing system generated and manual AML alerts and/or escalations/SAR write-ups for potentially suspicious activity.
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines (e.g., BSA, OFAC, FinCEN guidance).
Understanding of the legal, corporate governance, and regulatory environment related to the BSA and USA PATRIOT Act.
Knowledge of US reporting requirements, as it relates to suspicious activity reports and cash transaction activity.
Ability to detect and mitigate red flags for potential financial crime, including money laundering, terrorism financing activities and fraud, as it appears in transactional data.
Transaction analysis skills related to international wires, corresponding banking, cash, and check activity.
Experience composing and filing Suspicious Activity Reports.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Suite Products.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new policies, procedures, and vendor systems.
A demonstrable willingness to work more than 40 hours when needed.
Nice to Have
CAMS certification.
Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $59,000.00–$98,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on factors including skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
