mid-sized manufacturing company

Suffolk County, Long Island
is actively seeking a hands-on and experienced
Assistant Controller
to join their leadership team. This is a key strategic role reporting directly to the
CFO , responsible for overseeing core financial functions and supporting ongoing business growth through data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, billing, cost accounting, payroll, budgeting, and tax compliance
Analyze and monitor key financial metrics, identifying trends and performance indicators
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes; prepare internal and external financial statements
Provide financial reporting and insights to the CFO and executive team
Partner with operations and plant management to implement cost controls and increase profitability
Support financial planning and capital investment decisions, including pricing, contracts, and forecasts
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance or MBA (strongly preferred)
CPA designation (strongly preferred)
5–10 years of progressive accounting experience,
with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment
Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
Deep understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and standard costing
Strong analytical and communication skills
